Since my configurations are related to my setup, let me describe what XIM gaming setup I use.
I’m still using XIM4 and I’m happy with that, maybe later, I could by APEX but for now…XIM4 is fine :).
From time of PC gaming I had USB keyboard that was quite useful. Even features like macros does not work, I still like design of this keyboard. My XIM setup contains keyboard ZFang.
I’m currently using mouse dedicated just for XIM play. It is not the best you can find in market but it’s good price/performance choice. I’m using A4Tech Xl 750BK. Default DPI are set to max (3600 DPI), If i don’t mention it in review.
To avoid voltage problems once i connect USB headset, I use USB 2.0 HUB D-Link DUB H7.
For multiplayer gaming i use only generic USB headset Logitech 960USB.
Since this game was in PS Plus games, why should be missing review. Game is very fast and full of actions but due to great default config for XIM and control input algorithm in the game you should not faces to any troubles (at least from control point of view). Game works very smooth and only issue can be your muscle memory calibrated to other games (exactly what you can see in my video down below :)). There are almost no turning limits and aiming is still very accurate.
I think that you will have very big advantage in multiplayer once you learn muscle memory. I don’t think you could control game better with controller comparing to XIM. It looks like game was initially designed to be used with XIM.
Let’s skip discussions about fair and unfair using XIM in multiplayer games, if you focus only on single player campaign, you would enjoy game much more without stress. Single player part of this game is really enjoyable with XIM and it would be pity to skip it.
There are no problems…I’m recommend game if you are seeking for 3D shooter for XIM.
Prompt response, this is what you feel almost whole time. XIM works without latecy.
You must find your sensitivity but you don’t need to touch on ballistic curve (please don’t do it, this game don’t need it).
Turning is very fast and without overloading, almost exactly what you could expect on PC.
Wolfenstein is very nice piece of single player game. You will enjoy it with XIM 4 but you might noticed some problems during turning. If you like such game style, you can get over this. Enemies usually appears from predictable directions so aiming is more important. To be honest, I did not finish this game but not due to game control itself.
Game works with XIM 4 pretty good. Only issue is turning speed.
I did not try this game on PC but I’m sure that game is better controlled on PC. You might struggle with turning speed few minutes, once you get over this you might not even notice any problem.
Aiming is fine, not the best but it is acceptable for single player game. Aiming is very smooth and convinient.
Turning is the only issue…I don’t understand why some Bethesda games like Doom works so good and other games like Wolfenstein has so limited turning speed. It might be caused because of sooner release date of this game… Turning is slower especially during faster movement controller become overloaded and turning speed is slower. Player must learn slower turning that paradoxly cause faster turning.
If I could mention just one expression regarding to control of this game, it is the confidence in gameplay with XIM 4. Accurate aiming and fast turning fits dynamic mood of this game. Control is so nice, that you would think game was designed for this control from beginning. Titanfall 2 is simply great for demonstration how XIM 4 can work and what offers to first person shooters. Even game play with titan is great, even there is slower turning, you don’t feel it as handicap. Everything works just fine :).

Game play with XIM 4 is really dynamic and it is really fun. You don’t feel any jitter, any controller overloading or anything that could have negative impact to play.
As you can see it in attached video, aiming is very accurate.
Turning in this game is without problem.

Advanced look controls config:
After some investigation (few hours) I tried to configure advanced look controls. This configuration match me but it does not mean that it is the best config. However it might help you to convergent desired config based on this. Config match my hardware setup.

As you can see i had to adjust horisontal/vertical sensitivity. Not sure why, but vertical sensitivity is lower, so I did small correction. Also deadzone works little bit wrong so I set deadzone settings in XIM to 0 and adjusted it only in game settings. For fast turning i had to adjust ballistic curve. Hope my settings will help you!
This game is the first one which is added to supported game-list due to it’s popularity, gameplay is marked with aiming issues even though I haven’t noticed significant issue with controlling game comparing other marked as (U). Just aiming with small movement of mouse cause jitter. This can be frustrating in multiplayer games but in single player game the most of time you are able aim quickly since enemies are near you or you are using katana which does not need do much accuracy. Turning speed and smooth movement is more important for enjoy this game. I had exactly oposit feeling comparing to Metro – The Last Light.
Before you start to play, ensure you have set max. sensitivity (horizontal as well as vertical) and you have disabled aim assist, otherwise you experience nonlinear mouse movement feeling.
Game flow is really dynamic and you will take over aiming issue soon, game is really fun and with XIM 4 you can really enjoy this game.
Aiming is an issue, you might have problems with shooting enemies in long range. I tried to reduce sensitivity, balistic curve and use „Steady aiming“. Nothing really helped.
Turning works pretty well. You can turn very fast in desired direction so you have no problem to beat emeies with katana even you are standing in the middle of crowd.
Multiplayer games are different world. As single player games does not cause much discussions, multiplayer games with XIM controller usually means for console community cheating. Fortunately Battlefield is game which does not bring so much advantge for XIM players, game itself is very focused on play strategy and XIM players are not those who must have the best score. In this game are winners players with team play. But if you don’t play multiplayer games on consoles just because of problematic control with controller, you should try Battlefield 1 with XIM. Game control with XIM is very convinent that might be judged as the best games with XIM. There are no problems at all. Game just need little tweak in game settings and you are good to go!
The only issue I was faced on was command selection like „Need Medic“ etc… selection of commands requires continuous movement of mouse in specific direction of circle menu once you are try to select it. This is very anoying and sometimes almost impossible. I seeked on internet for some selection and the best option that worked for me was alternative config on pressing R1 button. Once R1 is pressed on specific time, right stick is remapped on arrows WADS. This settings is kept until R1 is again released. You are not able to move once you selecting command but selection is much more convinient and can be used. After this tweak I stopped sending false commands „Follow me“ instead of „Thank you“ :). Settings are described in XIM config part.
Once game is reconfigured, everything simply works. You might forget you play on console at all. If I had to demonstrate how XIM works, I would show it on Battlefield 1.
Aiming is without problem. You should select sensitivity that match you play style. Once you find it you would have significant advantage in situation 1:1.
Turning is very smooth and without any issues. There is almost no latency and jitter. I think there is no other PS4 game that provides so smooth turning.
I ‚m not the person that is fan of Star Wars games, but game is from graphic part so nice I bought this game. I have been playing just part of campaign so can’t judge how XIM works in multiplayer part. EA Games did great job and input processing works very good, similar situation is also in Battlefield 1 but i will talk about this game in separated review.
XIM config does not need much adjustment and fast processing of input allows using of straight ballistic curve without adjustment. All you need to tweak is sensitivity in game and sensitivity in XIM config. Game is very confident with keyboard and mouse.
The only problem is controlling space ships. Default mapped config require to use mouse for turning and this does not work well. So i would recommend to use console controller in space fight parts (good is that you don’t need to do nothing more that just grab controller connected to XIM and once space fight is over you pick again keyboard and mouse) or you could remap turning to keyboard and use control as alternative control schema.
You will really enjoy the control itself, i wish all new game would work like this one. Thanks to official support of controllers like HORI Tac new games should support mouse much more.
In shooter parts (not in space fights in space ships) you can safely switch off aim assist. Aiming is so confident.
No problem at all! There is also no overloading of controller, really good!
Far Cry 4 was the first game from Far Cry series so I wasn’t sure what i could expect from game. Thanks to trial on PS4 Store I could try it before buy. I would strongly recommend to try trial, even it supports only online play. You can try XIM 4 before you buy the game and realize that control is not so convenient as you might expect. Game need fine tuning of setting to get suitable user experience. If you use my settings as base config and you just do small adjustment you should be satisfied with control.
Game is well playable but i must admit that control could be better on PC. Especially aim is little tricky and slow movement cause jitter.
Only problem i found is big jitter in case of using (usually recommended) the biggest sensitivity in game settings. I would recommend to set 19/20 instead of 20/20. Setting lover sensitivity limits jitter and allows better aiming.
Default configuration of profile for Far Cry 4 is really linear (developers of XIM did exactly what is expected, great job!) but some people might prefer little of acceleration during fast movement of mouse. Fortunately this can be tuned with ballistic curve.
Aim is the biggest problem of this game, but since game is not multiplayer competitive and rather multiplayer cooperative you would not be faced to situation that few miliseconds of delay during aiming cause big disadvantage.
Turning is pretty linear and that’d good. Also overloading of inputs happens only with very fast turning. Usually you would not realize it. Adjust sensitivity in XIM app and after that try to adjust ballistic curve.
XIM 4 simly works great in this game. Initial configuration required some tuning to get the best setting between sensitivity/turning speed but it worth. I have enjoyed whole game without major problems. Difference between PC is so small that i rather play game on PS4 rather than sitting by the computer :).
There are some games that reacts with XIM4 a little bit better, but different is so small that you would not notice. Only if you play the game on PC and straight away you turn your PS4 and try it over XIM, you might feel a small difference.
Only one problem is choosing weapons, it is little bit tricky to select weapon at the first moment. Once you learn it, you minimize mistakes o choice to minimum.
You really enjoy whole game and you might decide to play the game one more time :).
Game is not focused on precious aiming, most of guns are based on „Quake III style“. But if you need to aim, it simply works.
Turning is really key in this game, because enemies often appears behind you and attacking from various location at the same time. Thanks to XIM shooting enemies is really fun :).
